Found: Estate Sale Treasures!!

You know how it is when you're an antique dealer. You go to estate sales every week, wait in line for hours, and most of the time, come home empty-handed.

Well, this past Friday was an exception. I was so excited to enter this Victorian home in San Francisco to find the largest gallery of 19th century oil paintings. There were hundreds on every wall! Needless to say, I purchased about 10 paintings which will be offered on the website in the weeks to come.

I was so excited at the estate sale, that I could hardly breath. The most gorgeous floral oil paintings on canvas in huge, ornate frames!

These are just some random photos. Be on the lookout for them at Paris Hotel Boutique!

Have a lovely Labor Day Weekend!

RIP Robin.

I am at a loss for words. We have lost yet another one of the greats to the horrible condition of bipolar disorder and addiction. We MUST keep educating the uninformed, and supporting our friends and relatives suffering.  Please, if you know of anyone suffering, be there for them, if only to lend a shoulder to cry on. Call 1-800-273-8255 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline if you or someone in your life has suicidal thoughts.

RIP Mr. Williams. You made us laugh. You made us cry. You were a master at your craft. The best. You were kind. You were mad. A true genius. I remember countless Sunday nights watching you do improv in San Francisco in the early 80s. It was magic. Thank you for the memories that I'll always treasure. The world isn't the same without you here. There's a spark missing and that's you. Farewell, friend.

What to Do With Old Tile?

I don't know about you, but I love working with original tile in homes whenever possible, as opposed to doing remodels.

I stumbled upon this image above and love how the homeowners kept their original pale pink tile and added the "Beverly Hills Hotel" decor to it consisting of a pink and green combo. Even includes the infamous "Martinique" leaf motif for window coverings!

You can see my bathroom (below), where I just went with the flow of the yellow tile with bright green time. Even with cracked tiles, I love the original bones of my 1939 home.

Have you used any creative ideas to work with your original tile?
