Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season. Please support your local shops and boutiques. During these tough economic times, they need our support. And, if you're like me, I much prefer the experience of shopping charming, unique shops, as opposed to large chains.

Today I'm off to one of my favorite little shops, Bell'occhio, here in San Francisco. It's a charming shop, full of curiosities. The owner Claudia has a keen eye. Each purchase is beautifully gift-wrapped and I never walk out empty-handed. After that, I'll mosey over to North Beach and visit some of my favorite boutiques. Tomorrow I'll head over to the San Francisco Antique & Design Mall to look for some one-of-a-kind items. It's much more fun than fighting crowds of shoppers downtown, and a way to find something unique for that special person.

Such a nice reminder to shop with local shops and boutiques. We used to have a few in our neighborhood but they have all closed due to lack of support and I still miss them. Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving.

Lovely! I also adore small boutique-type stores or antique malls. We have a great antique mall in Seattle and I already bought some wonderful vintage Christmas decorations there. For my birthday my mom got me a Dorothy Draper book from your store (looove it) and my husband bought me an amazing cofee-table book of Holbein lithographs dated 1903. I was in heaven. And - cannot stand malls! So plastic and un-meaningful. Ugh..

Rose Growing Gal--I was at that Seattle antique mall in August. It's amazing! I could have spent hours there.

Paris, I really get in trouble when I go to the Antique Mall - I wander around there for 2 hours at the very least! Now, if I need any kind of decor piece for my home, I think of Antique Mall first and of course, your website!
